Why Use Snow Fencing On Farms?

by Jennifer Smith October 22, 2018

Snow fencing is used on farms and gardens in the fall and winter months for a number of reasons.

For one, snow barrier fences work by causing snow drifts; and by creating turbulence, the snow is pushed away from flowerbeds and growing areas. For homeowners and home growers, snow barrier fences add security for crop protection and push snow away from fields allowing for soil moisture to stay active for the next growing season.

Once winter is over, farmers and ranchers will use snow fences to create drifts in basins for a ready supply of water in the spring.

Snow fencing minimizes the amount of snow on landscapes and allows growers to do what they do best: grow organically!
