Animal shelters are begging for assistance from animal lovers to help care for companion animals as the cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) increase across North America. The influx of animals being brought into the shelter is due to a number of reasons, such as pet owners becoming worried that their pets will get the virus; and the lack of shelter volunteers is making it difficult to deal with the overload of pets.
Animal lovers should consider fostering pets. Here's why:
For one, animal lovers are doing shelters a favor by alleviating the overcrowding in shelters. This allows for dogs and cats to visit a home for several days or weeks and play with humans and other companion animals. Keeping them outside will give them a chance to exercise and socialize in a fenced-in area, too. For pets that are too young to be adopted just yet, it gives shelters an idea of their temperament and how they will act around small children and other pets.
Fostering pets helps save lives during difficult times, such as the COVID-19 Pandemic. Contact local animal shelters to see how to get involved today.
