When Do Deer Give Birth?

by Jennifer Smith May 23, 2019

Homeowners may start to see new additions on their landscapes in the summertime - perhaps an influx of deer. This is because does give birth to fawns in late spring; and while they are adorable, and fun to look at, it is advised to leave the deer alone.

As wildlife rehabilitators have stated in the past, fawns are left alone by their mother for long periods of time while does scout for food. They will leave behind their baby deer to avoid predator encounters.

While deer are usually tame around humans, doe will attack humans if they feel that people are getting too close to their babies.
