What Daylight Savings Means For Gardeners

by Jennifer Smith March 12, 2018

You may have noticed a change this Monday morning thanks to Daylight Savings. Things may have looked a bit...darker. We are just days away from the first day of Spring (March 20, 2018); and that means that homeowners can finally start planting spring flowers.

Moving the clocks forward on Sunday was more than just losing an hour of sleep. It means that deer can move into gardens an hour earlier to taste flowerbeds. By not having built deer fence in the yard, gardeners have given deer an extra hour of planning their move.

The good news is there is still time to build deer fence before the start of spring; but growers will need to act quickly to protect spring flowers.

Homeowners with light deer pressure and no problems with chewing animals will benefit from having a plastic deer fence while gardeners with agricultural problems with rabbits, squirrels and other critters will want a metal deer fence.

Gardeners without a deer fence have already lost an hour of reliable garden protection. Don't lose another hour to deer. Get deer fencing for spring.
