Niko the cat lives at home with his owners in Rocky View County, Alberta. He was enjoying his afternoon when suddenly, a herd of mule deer approach. His owner recorded the wildlife encounter with his cat as the feline scared away the deer from the backyard.
Watch the video:
While the deer did not attack the cat, deer attacks on pets are common if pets appear as a threat to the rest of the herd. Humans are usually not harmed by deer unless they are near fawns and the mother doe strikes.
To keep pets and wildlife separated, it's best to build a pet fence that is high enough to block coyotes, wolves, and foxes (6 feet high) and white-tailed deer (8 feet high).
