Using Tree Wraps On Landscapes

by Jennifer Smith December 05, 2017

Fruit growers know it all too well: deer, birds and squirrels are eating apple and peach trees. To make matters worse, in the fall and winter, deer feed on the shoots of trees and rub their antlers on the trees, causing damage to tree bark.

During the infant stages (primary years) of a tree's growth period, tree guards can be used for tree protection from deer damage. Tree wrap is made from a poly fence material that wraps around the tree to stop the deer from rubbing against it. The tree wrap will also stop animals from climbing on the tree to reach fruit.

Tree guards are easy to use and last about 30 years in all weather conditions. This is a good product to know and have on farms and in gardens.
