Plants Deer Hate: Plant For Deer-Resistance

Like us, deer are also picky about the types of foods they eat and not every type of flower is 'worth a taste.'

The most reliable deer-resistant plants are those with acrid sap or pungent herbs such as lavender, rosemary, sage and oregano.

Deer also hate some vegetables such as pepper and garlic and they will turn their noses away from perennials including: Blanket Flowers; Geraniums; Marigolds; Daffodils and Aster.

The best method for deer management is to plant the flowers deer hate around a deer fence. This will create a secondary barrier to keep deer away from gardens. At first glance, deer will think they scored big; but after one taste, they will seek other gardens for food.

Planting these flowers and herbs will rid deer from gardens this spring.
