Jogging/Walking: Even in the wintertime, pets can go out for quick jogs or walks with pet owners. Running a mile usually takes less than 15 minutes and can be done in the convenience of a neighborhood or adjacent park.
Hiking: Going up and down hiking trails and paths will allow dogs and people to get their blood pumping while working muscles of all kinds. Don't forget to bring transportable dog dishes for fresh water on-the-go.
Playing fetch: Dogs love chasing balls; squeaky toys; footballs; sticks and Frisbee. This activity can be done from home in the fenced-in yard.
Swimming: Harder to do in most states during wintertime; but for Floridians, and other warm-climate state residents, splash in pools with dogs; and let them kick all fours!
Hiking: Dogs love walking through the woods and sniffing around leaves; but don't forget to check for ticks. Ticks will hide underneath leaves and logs in the winter, seeking insulation and shelter. As long as temperatures remain above freezing, ticks with tick diseases remain a concern for both pet and owner.
