Learning How To Garden? Read This.

by Jennifer Smith January 23, 2019

Beginning gardeners get excited; and trust me, you are not alone. They get so excited about a rainbow full of bright colors and fresh smelling plants that they spend too much, too soon. Don't go over your head.

Start small.

Start by planting small flower bulbs and seeds; and don't spend too much money doing it. Space plants apart; so weeds and roots do not suffocate nearby plants.

Get gardening equipment

You're just starting out. Spend the money not on plants, but on essential items such as a good pair of gardening gloves; a wheelbarrow; a watering bucket and shovels.

Install Wildlife Fencing

Most gardeners are proud of their first garden; and why should they be? However, after planting the flowers, they tend to walk away forgetting that wildlife have their eyes on the goods - your goods. The best way to keep the peace between the gardener and deer is to build a DIY fence for deer management that is at least 7.5 to 8' feet high. The fencing will not harm the animal(s) in any way; but will make them realize that they need to find other resources for food outside of your garden.

Invest In Pollination

Canadian gardeners have a fond appreciation for nature and are inspired to protect the environment. As such, gardeners should invest in pollinating flowers for beneficial insects - bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. These pollinating insects produce over 1/3 of the world's agriculture and help to provide growers with better-tasting plants. Without their help, we would not have nearly as much fresh produce to eat.

Conclusion

Now that you know, you can grow!
