It's Canadian Environment Week

by Jennifer Smith June 05, 2017

Running from June 4-10, 2017, Canadian Environment Week celebrates Canada's natural surroundings and encourages residents and visitors of Canada to preserve the land and protect the environment.

Some individuals may be tempted to carve their initials in trees or graffiti spray natural rocks; but this will harm the beauty of the forest and will depreciate the overall appearance of the landscape. Others are okay using multiple cups instead of refilling water bottles or using a thermos. This week, and on World Environment Day (June 5, 2017), we encourage individuals to do the following for land protection:

  • Use reusable mugs rather than Styrofoam cups.
  • Bike to work or walk. This is good for personal health and can eliminate harmful fumes that are released into the air.
  • Join land clean-up days and other related activities in your area.
  • Contact recycling centers and establish a project with their help.
  • Hike historical sights. Look but don't touch, if able.
  • Spread the word about the environment and how to protect land.

Show some love for Canada's landscape and demonstrate your commitment to protecting the land with environmental actions.
