How To Protect Forests

by Jennifer Smith July 10, 2018

Some of the most beloved wild animals are at risk of extinction or are already on the endangered species list. And, when we think of endangered animals, we think tigers, polar bears and gorillas; but some of the vulnerable animals are those that can be viewed every day at national parks or in forests including sloth bears and Florida's Key deer. To protect these animals, we must first protect our forests.

Deer cause park damage when scouting for food and destroy ecosystems. To make matters worse, they rub their antlers on trees during the rut season and damage forests. Bears cause 5-10 percent of damage to parks and rabbits are one of those pesky critters that feed on plant matter and ruin leaves.

Preserving wilderness areas is important to our development and keeps animals safe. In British Columbia, there is a call to stop logging endangered rain forests. We must do our part to stop damaging forests; and we ask forest landowners to get involved in the movement.

Consider deer fencing when working on forest preservation efforts and do your part to save animals and their homes. Forests are beautiful, rich in nature and biodiversity. Let's do our part to keep it that way.
