Find Me a Chew Resistant Fence

by Jenn Smith February 05, 2020

Some wild animals are relentless in the garden and will eat anything grown outdoors. What's worse, they will gnaw through, and dig, to reach plants. Take squirrels, for example. Squirrels are known to eat all types of plants while gnawing their way through wooden decks! To block chewing animals, it's best to find a fence with chew resistant qualities.

Plastic fences just won't do.

Poly fences are great for light to moderate deer pressure; but when it comes to rabbits, gophers and other types of chewing animals, it won't hold up for long. Therefore, gardeners are encouraged to install metal fences with PVC around growing sites made from hexagonal shaped or welded wire. Having PVC will protect steel cores from chew marks and increase longevity of fences.

To protect plants from critter damage, build a metal fence with PVC-coating. These type of fences will stop deer and other animals in their tracks while standing tall for 20+ years.
