Before beginning your fence project, you want to make sure you have everything ready for assembly, right? To create a deer-proof garden, it's important to choose the right fence mesh for the job - poly or metal. Once you have the right landscape fence, you will need accessories to add strength to the fence system. Here's what you need:
1. Ground Stakes
Ground Stakes are a must for any deer fence system. If deer are finding their way into the garden, it's because they are sneaking into the garden from the bottom. Choose Rebar or Kinked Ground Stakes; and then space the fence stakes every five feet apart from each other.
2. Warning Banners
Deer warning flags are highly recommended. These deer warning banners are white so the deer can see the fence before running into it. (They have trouble seeing black). Without the warning flags, deer damage is a risk that homeowners take.
3. Tensioning Wire
Fence tension is recommended for the top of the fence (and bottom, if desired). Adding monofilament wire will strengthen the fence and stop it from potentially sagging. If the garden fence is near trees that may have fallen branches, monofilament wires will resist further damage to the fence.
