Don't Buy Chain-Link Dog Fences. Here's Why.

by Jennifer Smith April 09, 2018

We admit it, chain-link fences are affordable; and if money is a concern for homeowners [with large acreage], then a chain-link fence may be a good option to keep dogs securely enclosed. However, there are many reasons not to buy chain link fences for both dogs and homeowners.

Reasons For Dogs

Dogs like to chew and dig; and more often than not, dogs get out underneath the chain-link. (There aren't a lot of accessories to use on chain-link fences.) Additionally, this material has no real protection from environmental elements and will corrode in time - not only wearing down the strength of the fence, but also chipping away and hurting dogs.

Reasons For Homeowners

Chain-link fences are not privacy fences; and they are not attractive in the yard. In fact, they cheapen the look of landscapes.

Consider choosing a yard fence that is both aesthetically pleasing on landscapes and humane for pets. Consider poly and/or PVC-coated metal fencing for dogs. The PVC is different than chain-link because it protects the fence material from the elements and the dog.
