Deer Mating Season Begins Now.

by Jenn Smith October 01, 2019

Homeowners probably haven't realized it; but bucks have been preparing for deer breeding season for weeks. In late summer, bucks rubbed up against trees to remove the dried velvet from their antlers in an attempt to look more presentable to lady doe. This action is to prepare for the "rut season."

Deer mating season runs from late October through mid-November when bucks seek out doe. During this time, deer will become aggressive and tend to attack both people and pets.

In the fall, deer become persistent to eat as much as they can from home gardens while they search for mates. Homeowners will see an increase in deer populations on lawns and gardens this fall. Keep deer at bay with deer fencing and other deer management tactics.
