CDC Apologizes For Poppy Seed Muffin Tweet

by Jennifer Smith May 16, 2018

Take a look at this poppy seed muffin. Looks appetizing, doesn't it? Well, it may have ticks in it. Can you spot them?

To demonstrate that people do not know what a tick looks like, or how small they can be, the CDC released a photo with five ticks embedded in the muffin. Most people are having trouble digesting the news that the speckles are not all poppy seeds - but ticks!

The CDC has apologized for the tweet and tick scare; but they are raising awareness for all the right things. People need to know how tiny ticks can be; and this is why performing thorough tick checks on yourself after outdoor activity is very important. Know how to remove a tick and read tick disease prevention tips on DeerbustersCanada.ca.
