Asian LonnghornedTick Could Make Its Way Into Canada

by Jennifer Smith August 15, 2018

The new invasive tick species that was brought from Asia into the United States could potentially make its way to Canada.

The Longhorned Tick has found its way into eight U.S. states including: New Jersey, Arkansas, Virginia, New York, North Carolina and West Virginia.

This type of tick species is very aggressive toward livestock animals such as horses, cattle, sheep and goats but will also attack humans and dogs, if given the opportunity.

The tick is dark brown in color and the size of a poppy seed - or the size of a pea once infused with blood.

Keep an eye out for this new tick; and contact authorities if sighted.
